Brief Description:

The BMEidea Biomedical Engineering competition is open to interdisciplinary teams of graduate and undergraduate students. Strong submissions will define a biomedical engineering problem and demonstrate the development of a device, product, or technology designed to solve the problem. The final result should have substantial impact on clinical care and patient outcomes.

Harvard University, as one institution, is limited to putting forward three proposals to this opportunity. Proposals must furthermore be from distinct departments. The Office of the Vice Provost for Research is facilitating the internal process for applicant teams comprised of Graduate or Undergraduate students.

Interested applicants are asked to submit the following:

  • Name of the Applicant
  • Name of the Faculty Advisor
  • Faculty Advisor CV
  • Please provide a narrative of your venture, up to 10 pages, double-spaced, 12 point font
  • Please provide the full names, school, discipline and year of expected graduation of all other team members, at Harvard University and other institutions, if applicable
  • Per competition guidelines, all teams must include at least one member who is an Engineering student. Please identify which member(s) of the team satisfy this requirement, including which department at SEAS they are affiliated with.
  • Please provide a letter of support from the Faculty Advisor. This letter must be co-signed by the Faculty Advisor's Department Chair. Only one proposal is allowed from each department. Multiple proposals received from a single department will be returned for selection.
