Brief Description:

The PFC program is designed to provide support to enable research at the frontiers of physics when the activities are of a scope and complexity that would not be feasible with standard individual investigator or small group support. Through the PFC program university researchers can form centers, institutes , or large group efforts that lead to major new idea, discoveries, or broad advances in physics or ar the boundaries of physics with other disciplines.



Description:

The PFC program is designed to provide support to enable research at the frontiers of physics when the activities are of a scope and complexity that would not be feasible with standard individual investigator or small group support. Through the PFC program university researchers can form centers, institutes , or large group efforts that lead to major new idea, discoveries, or broad advances in physics or ar the boundaries of physics with other disciplines.
Harvard University is limited to submitting two (2) required preliminary proposals for this opportunity. The Office of the Vice Provost for Research is facilitating the process to identify applicants and select a proposal(s) to move forward.



Application Information:

Applicants are asked to submit the following (this information will appear again on the applicant's dashboard)
  • Project Description (2 pages max, 10 point font minimum) Graphics/ references may be placed on blank pages. Please include a rational for establishing the PFC in the project description
  • CV of PI and Co-PI(s), if applicable




Review Criteria:

 Proposals from existing (re-competing) PFC's will be evaluated in the open competition with new proposals. The number of awards in FY 2017 are expected to be in the range of 4-6.
