Brief Description:

The Greenwall Foundation Faculty Scholars Program in Bioethics provides support for an assistant or associate faculty members holding at a least a 60% faculty appointment at a university or non-profit research institute in the U.S. and whose research has the potential to impact public policy, biomedical research, or clinical practice in the field of Bioethics.

Harvard University is viewed as a single institution for this opportunity and may put forward two (2) proposals. The Office of the Vice Provost for Research is facilitating an internal process to solicit, review and select proposals.
 
Please note; applicants with a primary appointment at HMS, or affiliated institution, the selection of who will move forward to the OVPR internal process is complete.

Application Information:

Eligible applicants are asked to submit the following:

A research proposal of not more than three (3) pages emphasizing the significance of the work proposed, how the research will be carried out and how likely it is to have an impact on public policy, biomedical research, or clinical care. Any associated graphics and/or references may be placed on blank pages after the written work

A letter from the applicant's Department Chair acknowledging that if successfully awarded a Greenwall Faculty Scholar is to devote 50% of their time to their project

A current CV (no preferred format)


Eligibility Criteria:

Applicants must be junior faculty members holding at least a 60% appointment in a tenure series or its equivalent at a university or non-profit research institute in the United States.
Priority will be given to
Applicants who have not yet been considered for tenure,
Who have not received a comparable career development award
Whose work will have an impact on public policy, biomedical research, or clinical practice

  • OVPR internal competition closes: September 18, 2017
  • Greenwall required LOI: due to the Foundation by November 1, 2017
  • Full proposals, by invitation: due to the Foundation by January 15, 2018
  • Greenwall invited interviews: held in April, 2018
  • Scholars announced: On or after June 1, 2018
