Brief Description:

The Searle Scholars program supports research of outstanding individuals who have recently begun their appointment at the Assistant Professor level, and whose appointment is their first tenure-track position at an invited academic or research institution.  The Office of the Vice Provost for Research anticipates that for the 2016 Searle Scholars opportunity the schools of Harvard's Cambridge campus and the T. H. Chan School of Public Health will be eligible to put forward two nominations to the foundation. Applicants from Harvard Medical School, affiliated hospitals, and the Wyss Institute should apply through the process facilitated by the HMS Foundation Funds office. This announcement will be updated should the foundation make changes to the anticipated 2016 program.

Applicants to The Searle Scholars Program will be expected to be pursuing independent research careers in biochemistry, cell biology, genetics, immunology, neuroscience, pharmacology, and related areas in chemistry, medicine, and the biological sciences. The program does not ordinarily support purely clinical research but has supported research programs that include both clinical and basic components.



Application Information:

Eligible candidates are asked to submit
A proposal of not more than two (2) pages (related graphics and/or references may appear on consecutive blank pages after the written proposal)
A current CV
A letter of recommendation from a Department Chair or Center Director



Eligibility Criteria:

Applicants must be recently appointed Assistant Professors (appointed on, or after, July 1, 2014) in the fields of biochemistry, cell biology, genetics, immunology, neuroscience, pharmacology, and related areas in chemistry, medicine and the biological sciences.
