Brief Description:

The Brain Research Foundation Fay/Frank Seed Grant Program provides Assistant and Associate Professors working in the area of bran function with start-up money for new research projects and innovative programs that have the potential of becoming competitive for an NIH grant or other external funding sources. Seed Grants may not be used as a bridge between funding grants.
Harvard University, as one institution, is limited to making one nomination in consideration of this prestigious opportunity.
Applicants who hold a primary appointment at HMS must apply to this opportunity through the internal process facilitated by the HMS Foundation Funds office. Please note that the HMS Foundation Funds application has a different deadline from the internal competition facilitated by the OVPR office.

Application Information:

Applicants are asked to submit the following as part of the internal application process:

  • A two page (max) research proposal. Related graphics and/or references may be placed on consecutive blank pages after the written work
  • A current CV, no preferred format
  • A budget (one page) describing how the award funds would be used. The budget may be in table or narrative form and does not need to follow an established template
  • A letter of recommendation from a Department Chair or Center Director


Eligibility Criteria:

Eligible applicants will be a full time Assistant or Associate Professor working in the working in the area of studies of brain function. This includes molecular and clinical neuroscience as well as studies of neural, sensory, motor, cognitive, behavioral and emotional functioning in health and disease.
