Brief Description:

This is the 4th round of funding available from the Obama-Singh 21st Century Knowledge Initiative (OSI).  OSI aims to strengthen collaboration and build partnerships between American and Indian institutions of higher education. The thematic areas of interest include Energy, Climate Change & Environmental Studies; Education and Educational Reform; Public Health; Sustainable Development & Community Development; and International Relations & Strategic Studies.


Description:

The Obama-Singh Initiative encourages mutual understanding, facilitates educational reform, fosters economic development, and engages civil society, the by enabling U.S. colleges and universities and Indian counterpart institutions to pursue objectives cooperatively through exchange visits of faculty, administrators, post graduate Indian students, and U.S. graduate students.

Harvard as one institution is limited to submitting one proposal for this opportunity. Additionally, please note that OSI has determined that HSPH, having successfully received funding from OSI in 2013, is not eligible to apply to this year's competition.


Application Information:

Interested applicants are asked to submit the following:

A five page Project Summary that includes:
  • Statement of need and project objectives
  • Brief statement about long term impact of the proposed project
  • Overview of proposed partnership activities and purpose of proposed visits
  • Broad overview of project staff and their capacity for managing the project
  • Brief description of participating institutions and rationale for their inclusion
  • Overview of anticipated program evaluation plan
  • Brief plan to sustain program achievements without additional OSI support

The above  should be set in 12-Point Times New Roman, single spaced.

  • CV/s of the Project Directors, Indian and U.S. (no preferred format)
  • A Summary Budget (an OSI template available to download. Applicants should first select the Apply button to begin their application. Once they are brought to the Applicant Dashboard they should click on the Icon labeled Proposal Information. At the bottom of the next screen to open up there will be a link in blue ink to click on and download the template ). Please note- it is understood that the budget summary submitted as part of this internal application is only an estimate and may change prior to submission to OSI.


Eligibility Criteria:

Harvard as one institution is limited to submitting one proposal for this opportunity. The Office of the Vice Provost for Research will coordinate the selection of the proposal.

Additionally, please note that OSI has determined that HSPH, having successfully received funding from OSI in 2013, is not eligible to apply to this year's competition.
