Brief Description:

The David and Lucile Packard Foundation's Fellowships provide early career faculty members (within the first three years of their appointment) engaged in research in the natural and physical sciences or engineering the opportunity to pursue their science and engineering research with few funding restrictions and limited paperwork requirements over a five year period.

Harvard University, as one institution, is eligible to put forward two nominations to the Packard Foundation for this prestigious opportunity. The Office of the Vice Provost for Research is facilitating the university wide internal application and review process.



Description:

Please note: The internal application process for applicants who have a primary appointment at HMS has already passed for this year.



Application Information:

Applicants are asked to provide the following (this information will appear again on each applicant's electronic dashboard)
  • A two page research statement: Describe why the proposed research is important and provide an outline of goals for the next five years. The statement should also indicate, in general terms, how the awarded funds would be used. 10 Point font minimum. Graphics and/or references may be placed on blank pages at the conclusion of the research statement
  • A current CV, no preferred format. Include educational background, honors and awards, current external research support and publications
  • A letter of recommendation from your Department Chair describing first hand knowledge of your ability to do creative research



Eligibility Criteria:

  • Packard Fellows must be faculty members who are eligible to serve as principal investigators on research in the natural and physical sciences or engineering, and must be within the first three years of their faculty careers.
