Brief Description:

The Greenwall Foundation Faculty Scholars Program in bioethics provides support for assistant or associate faculty members holding at least a 60% appointment at a university or non profit research institute in the U.S. and whose research has the potential to impact public policy, biomedical research, or clinical practice in the field of bioethics. The award supports 50% of a scholars salary plus benefits for three years, up to 1.5% times the NIH salary cap, with 10% institutional costs for the salary and benefits. In addition, $5,000 is provided each year for limited project support and travel (no indirect costs are provided for these items).

For the 2016 opportunity, Harvard, as one institution, may nominate two (2) applicants for this opportunity. The Greenwall Foundation will make no more than one award per institution in each Faculty Scholars grant cycle.

Application Information:

The Greenwall Foundation accepts a Letter of Intent from eligible applicants who have been selected by an internal screening process within their institution. On the basis of these LOIs approximately 12 applicants will be invited by the Greenwall Foundation to submit full applications, due January 11, 2016.

Interested and eligible applicants across Harvard University are asked to submit the following in consideration of being selected as one of two applicants Harvard may nominate to the Greenwall Foundation:
  • A research proposal of not more than 3 pages emphasizing the significance of the work proposed, how the research will be carried out and how likely it is to have an impact on public policy, biomedical research, or clinical care. Any associated graphics may be placed on a 4th page.
  • A current CV
  • A letter from a department chair or center director acknowledging that if awarded the applicant is excepted to devote at least 50% of their time to their proposed project
