Brief Description:

The purpose of the Brain Research Foundation's Fay/Frank Seed Grant Program is to provide start up money to junior faculty for new research projects and innovative programs in the field of neuroscience. The proposed projects should show potential of becoming competitive for an NIH grant or other external funding sources.

Harvard University, as a single institution, may put forward one proposal to the Brain Research Foundation for this opportunity.

Studies should be related to either normal human brain development or specifically identified disease states. This includes molecular and clinical neuroscience as well as studies of neural, sensory, motor, cognitive, behavioral and emotional functioning in health and disease

100% of the Fay/Frank Seed Grant funds must be utilized for direct costs.

Please note: Applicants from HMS Quad and affiliated hospitals should apply through the process facilitated by the HMS Office of Foundation Funds.

Applicants are asked to submit:

A brief summary of the proposed research project. Please include a closing paragraph that explains how the research will develop/next steps (2 page maximum, 10 point font minimum)

Assistant Professors: The grant proposal must detail a new research project that is not funded by other sources
Associate Professors: The grant proposal must detail new research directions

Biographical sketch, using current NIH format. Please also include a separate page(s) detailing past, current and anticipated funding

Eligibility Criteria:

Applicants must be full time Assistant or Associate Professors working in the area of studies of brain function in health and disease
Funds may not be used as bridge funding
