Brief Description:

The Greenwall Faculty Scholars Program in Bioethics is a career development award to enable junior faculty members to carry out innovative bioethics research. The award supports research that goes beyond current work in bioethics to help resolve pressing ethical issues in clinical, biomedical, and public health decision making, policy, and practice.

Harvard University, as a single institution, may nominate two (2) proposals for this opportunity. The Office of the Vice Provost for Research is facilitating the internal application and selection process.


Description:

The Greenwall Faculty Scholars Program in Bioethics is a career development award to enable junior faculty members to carry out innovative bioethics research. The award supports research that goes beyond current work in bioethics to help resolve pressing ethical issues in clinical, biomedical, and public health decision making, policy, and practice.

Harvard University, as a single institution, may nominate two (2) proposals for this opportunity. The Office of the Vice Provost for Research is facilitating the internal application and selection process.

Successful applicants will receive 50% salary support for three years in order to enable them to develop their research program. Applicants must be junior faculty members holding a faculty appointment that allows at least 50% of their effort to perform research.

Applicants are asked to submit the following:

  • Proposal Title
  • Single paragraph summary of proposal in layperson's terms
  • A research proposal of not more than three (3) pages, single spaced, 12 pt. font min, one inch margins, emphasizing:
  1. The significance of the work proposed
  2. How the research will be carried out
  3. How likely the research is to have an impact on public policy, biomedical research, or clinical care 
  • A current CV. Five pages, single spaced, max.
  • A letter from the applicant's Department Chair acknowledging that, if successfully awarded, a Greenwall Faculty Scholarship the awardee will devote 50% of their time to their proposed research.
