The NSF Research Traineeship (NRT) program encourages proposals that will test, develop, and implement innovative and effective STEM graduate education models, promote interdisciplinary and broad professional training for graduate students, and foster fundamental research advances in support of national priorities.
Harvard University, as a single institution, is limited to submitting two (2) proposals to the NSF in response to this opportunity. This includes when Harvard acts as a lead, non-lead, or sub-awardee organization in any of the proposals submitted to the NSF for consideration.
The Office of the Vice Provost for Research is facilitating the internal application, review, and selection process to identify proposals for nomination from Harvard for this opportunity.

Application Information:
Applicants will be asked to provide the following: (this information will be repeated on the Applicant's dashboard)
A written response to one of the six priority areas defined by the NSF. Three (3) pages max. 10 point font minimum. Associated graphics and/or references may be placed on blank pages at the conclusion of the written response
Confirmation that the application is in response to Track 1 of this opportunity. Track 1 funding max: $200,000.00. Harvard is not eligible to apply to Track 2
Identification of Harvard's role in the proposal: Lead, Non-Lead or Sub-Awardee
CV of the PI. NSF Biosketch format. Please indicate any current or pending NSF funding, as well as any NSF funding received in the last five years (2018, up to the present)
CV of the Co-PI, if applicable. Please indicate any current NSF funding, and/or any NSF funding received in the last five years
Additional Information, Related Websites, and Proxy Instructions:
This competition is enabled for Proxy applicants. Before beginning an application, Proxies will be asked to locate their Principal Investigator in HUFP. If your PI is not registered in HUFP, please ask them to create their profile using their HarvardKey.
Proxies should never “add user” in HUFP.
