Brief Description:

The Office of the Vice Provost for Research, in partnership with the Office of Undergraduate Research and Fellowships is pleased to offer an opportunity for collaborative research projects related to Generative AI between Harvard faculty and undergraduate students over the summer of 2024.

Faculty interested in hiring one or two undergraduates should select "Apply" and complete the associated application in HUFP. The information provided will be used by the Harvard College of Undergraduate Research and Fellowships to recruit interested and qualified students.

Selections will be made on a first come, first served basis, up to thirty total applications. An application that is "pending" is not considered submitted.



Description:

The Office of the Vice Provost for Research, in partnership with the Office of Undergraduate Research and Fellowships is pleased to offer an opportunity for collaborative research projects related to Generative AI between Harvard Faculty and undergraduate students over the summer of 2024.

The goal of this funding opportunity is to foster collaboration between faculty and undergraduates in efforts to incorporate and grow Generative AI components in a wide range of research disciplines.

Faculty may request support for one or two Harvard College students to support research with a Generative AI component, or use of Generative AI to augment their research. A stipend of $7K per student will be provided.

Interested faculty should click "Apply" and complete the associated application in HUFP. The information provided will be used by the Harvard College of Undergraduate Research and Fellowships to recruit interested and qualified students.

Please provide the following information about the summer position:

  • Confirmation that the position is 10 weeks in length
  • How many students are you looking to hire? (one, or two)
  • Project Overview (750 words, max.)
  • Opportunity for the student (750 words, max.)
  • Anticipated outcomes (750 words, max.)
  • Up to six key words
  • Skills/Selection Criteria (750 words, max.)


Eligibility Criteria:

  • Interested faculty members must hold a faculty appointment with principal investigator rights at a Harvard school and must be paid by that Harvard school (HMS faculty must hold an appointment in one of the Basic and Social Science departments); faculty may be in any discipline, and need not have any experience with Generative AI.

This competition is enabled for Proxy applicants. Before beginning an application, Proxies will be asked to locate their Principal Investigator in HUFP. If your PI is not registered in HUFP, please ask them to create their profile using their HarvardKey. Proxies should never “add user” in HUFP.
