Charles H. Hood Foundation Major Grants Initiative to Advance Child Health Spring 2018

Brief Description:

The Charles H. Hood Foundation 2018 Major Grants Initiative to Advance Child Health supports outstanding investigators conducting innovative and transformative research in child health. The overall goal of the Program remains the funding of translational or clinical research that will improve child health clinical outcomes, or improve health care access, affordability, and quality.      
For the 2018 grant cycle, the Hood Foundation requests applications related to either of two areas of child health research:  ​Neonatology or Brain Science and Child Development.

Application Information:

Description of the research project (limit 3 pages) Include the following sections:  
  • 300 word lay summary of the project.
  • Background
  • Methods
  • Innovation
  • Implications for child health
Up-to-date biosketch in NIH format, including publications and listing of current and pending sources of funding (Limit 5 pages)
Style requirements:
  • Font size must be 11 points or larger.
  • Type may be no more than six lines per inch.
  • All copies will be printed in black and white, no exceptions.
  • Applicants must adhere to the above requirements in order for the application to be reviewed by the selection committee. Additional letters or materials will not be reviewed.

Eligibility Criteria:


Applicants must have a full-time faculty appointment at Harvard Medical School.  (Postdoctoral or clinical fellows are not eligible for this award) 

Additional Information, Related Websites, and Proxy Instructions:

HMS affiliated hospitals are invited to submit separate nominations for this award. Faculty at the hospitals should NOT apply for the HMS nomination for this award but should seek the nomination from their hospital. Please contact your research administration representative for details.
